When do the veggie boxes begin? The 2023 season starts the first or second week of June, depending on weather and will continue through October, with one week off as decided by the farm. How do I know what membership level I should choose? The membership levels are broken into 3 categories and run for either a full season which is 20 weeks or half season which is 10 weeks (every other week). The membership levels are as described below: Individual/Couple - ideally for an individual, a couple, or a very small family - includes 5-6 items (for example: a pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of lettuce, 3 ears of corn, 1 small to medium zucchini, 1 small melon, 1-2 bell peppers) Small Family - ideally for a family of about 4 - includes 7-8 items (for example: a pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of lettecue, 5 ears of corn, 1-2 small to medium zucchini, 1 melon, 2-3 bell peppers, 1 quart of green beans, 3 regular sized tomatoes, 3 mini cucumbers) Large Family - ideally for a family of 5 or more or for a small family whose meals are veggie heavy or for half share to have 2 weeks worth of veggies - includes 10-12 items - (for example: a pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of lettuce, 8 ears of corn, 2 small to medium zucchini, 1 melon, 3-4 bell peppers, 1 quart of green beans, 3-4 regular sized tomatoes, 5 mini cucumbers, 1 bunch of kale, 2 medium to large onions, 1 bunch of beets) Do I get to pick my box items? The base items are determined by the harvest schedule for the week. However, substitutions may be made due to allergies, etc by request to the farm with 24 hour notice prior to pick up day. Additional items can also be pre-ordered by contacting the farm (24 hour pre notice) and will be brought to your pick up site. NOTE: The first weeks of the CSA Box may be lighter or green heavy. Please do not worry! As produce production picks up through the season, you can expect to see the full amount or even extra in your later boxes. What crops can I expect to see? If you are unable to pick up your share for one or more weeks during the season, please text Kim at 724-614-6854 with a minimum 24 hours notice. An alternate pick up person may get your share or the Farm will choose to donate your items to a selected person at the pick up location or a person in need. How will I know what veggies I will receive each week? Prior to your pickup date and time, the Farm will email you a weekly pickup email with the week's items along with weekly recipes or preservation tips. If at any time you have questions regarding your produce or are not sure what an item is or how to prepare it, feel free to reach out to Kim or Jeremy and we will give you advice. How do I pay? There are several options on how you can purchase your share. You can purchase and pay in full directly from our website. You can choose the option to be invoiced between four installment payments, with 1/4 of the total fee being paid at time of signing up. If you choose to pay by EBT, please contact the farm for further details. Do I have to sign a membership agreement? Yes, all members are required to complete a membership agreement.
