WHEN DO THE CSA BOXES (SUBSCRIPTIONS) BEGIN?
The 2023 season starts the week of June 5, depending on weather and will continue through October, with one week off as decided by the farm.

No, Haffey Family Farm is not certified organic but we do use organic and sustainable farming methods.
How long is your csa season?
A full season or weekly share is 20 weeks. A half season or bi-weekly share is 10 weeks (every other week).
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT MEMBERSHIP LEVEL I SHOULD CHOOSE?
The membership levels are broken into 3 categories and run for either a full season which is 20 weeks or half season which is 10 weeks (every other week).The membership levels are as described below:
Individual/Couple - ideally for an individual, a couple, or a very small family - includes 5-6 items (for example: a pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of lettuce, 3 ears of corn, 1 small to medium zucchini, 1 small melon, 1-2 bell peppers)
Small Family - ideally for a family of about 4 - includes 7-8 items (for example: a pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of lettuce, 5 ears of corn, 1-2 small to medium zucchini, 1 melon, 2-3 bell peppers, 1 quart of green beans, 3 regular sized tomatoes, 3 mini cucumbers)
Large Family - ideally for a family of 5 or more or for a small family whose meals are veggie heavy or for half share to have 2 weeks worth of veggies - includes 10-12 items - (for example: a pint of cherry tomatoes, 1 head of lettuce, 8 ears of corn, 2 small to medium zucchini, 1 melon, 3-4 bell peppers, 1 quart of green beans, 3-4 regular sized tomatoes, 5 mini cucumbers, 1 bunch of kale, 2 medium to large onions, 1 bunch of beets)

AM I ABLE TO PICK THE ITEMS FOR MY CSA BOX?
The base items are determined by the harvest schedule for the week. However, substitutions may be made due to allergies, etc by request to the farm with 24 hour notice prior to pick up day. Additional items can also be pre-ordered by contacting the farm (24 hour pre notice) and will be brought to your pick up site. NOTE: The first weeks of the CSA Produce Box may be lighter or green heavy. Please do not worry! As produce production picks up through the season, you can expect to see the full amount or even extra in your later boxes.

Our harvest schedule (dependent on weather) is as follows:
JUNE: greens such as lettuce, swiss chard, collards, kale, arugula, and spinach, peas, cabbage, radishes, cucumbers (late June), cherry tomatoes (late June), zucchini, yellow squash
JULY: Lettuce, tomatoes, variety of peppers, eggplant, cantaloupe (late July), zucchini, cucumbers, squash, beans, onions, garlic, kale, beets, carrots, sweet corn, potatoes (late July), tomatoes (late July)
AUGUST: Lettuce, tomatoes, variety of peppers, eggplant, cantaloupe, watermelon, zucchini, cucumbers, yellow squash, beans, onion, garlic, kale, beets, sweet corn, potatoes
SEPTEMBER: Lettuce, tomatoes, variety of peppers, eggplant, cantaloupe, watermelon, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, onion, garlic, kale, beets, sweet corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes
OCTOBER: Brussel sprouts, turnips, beets, lettuce, spinach, radishes, onions, garlic, potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, greens, acorn squash, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, pie pumpkins

what if i am on vacation or am unable to pick up my csa box?
If you are unable to pick up your share for one or more weeks during the season, please text Kim at 724-614-6854 with a minimum 24 hours notice. An alternate pick up person may get your share or the Farm will choose to donate your items to a selected person at the pick up location or a person in need.
how do i know which items i will be receiving in my csa box each week?
Prior to your pickup date and time, the Farm will email you a weekly pickup email with the week's items along with weekly recipes or preservation tips. If at any time you have questions regarding your produce or are not sure what an item is or how to prepare it, feel free to reach out to Kim or Jeremy and we will give you advice.
how do i pay for my csa box (membership)?
There are several options on how you can purchase your CSA box share. You can purchase and pay in full directly from our website. You can choose the option to be invoiced between four installment payments, with 1/4 of the total fee being paid at time of signing up. If you choose to pay by SNAP (EBT), please contact the farm for further details.
do i have to complete a membership agreement to join your csa?
Yes, all members are required to complete a membership agreement. (Click here for membership agreement)The form familiarizes you with our growing practices and pickup procedures and also provides your contact information to the Farm.

what is a csa?
Think of a CSA as a subscription service for fresh vegetables, fruits and locally harvested goods. Technically a CSA is a crop-sharing program that connects you, the consumer, directly with us, the farmers. In return to subscribing to the harvest, you will receive a weekly or bi-weekly box full of fresh and locally grown items.

How can I find out how to store my CSA box produce and get meal ideas?
Each week you will receive a CSA Box Weekly Newsletter electronically. This will inform you of what items are in your CSA Box for the week, along with 2 to 3 meal recipes to use your produce, your pickup location and time and any preservation tips for items in your CSA Box.
Can I Order a CSA Produce Box for someone else?
Yes! You can order a CSA Box for a friend or family member as a gift. When you complete the membership agreement, list the recipient name as the pickup person along with their contact information.
can i use my snap (ebt) benefits to pay for a csa box?
Yes! Because the items in the CSA Box are produce, they are eligible for SNAP (EBT) benefits. To pay using SNAP, please contact the farm directly.
